Technology Aided Learning

We are living in a technology centric society and therefore in order to fashion out citizens of the future we need to lay stress on Technology Aided Learning (TAL). Technology cannot replace the teachers but technology makes teaching more relevant, interesting and enjoyable. Students well versed in ICT are better capable of adapting to the digital society. We see to that. At APS Shillong our endeavour has always been to develop ICT skills of the students by providing them an ICT enabled environment. Apart from three well equipped computer labs and a teachers’ resource room, the school has already taken the initiative to introduce smart classes in all the classrooms from the academic session 2014 - 2015

Counseling Service

Teenage is a time of stress and strife. It becomes very difficult on the part of the teenager to decide what he / she wants to become, what he / she wants to get out of life, what would satisfy the insatiable teenage urge to know and discover. Parents try to impose their hopes and aspirations on the volatile teenage mind. They try to realize their lost career dream through their children. Moreover, peer group pressure and social expectations also play a devastating role in making the teenager and the parents confused. The school has a full time counselor who counsels the students and parents at different levels and helps the students to establish a relationship between aptitudes and abilities and in turn helps them to choose a right career.

Music

Plato once said that music is a more potent instrument than any other for education. Music affects the growth of a child’s brain academically, emotionally, physically and spiritually. Moreover, in music, a mistake is a mistake; the instrument is in tune or not, the notes are well played or not, the entrance is made or not. It is only by much hard work that a successful performance is possible. Further, it is through music, students learn the value of sustained effort to achieve excellence and the concrete rewards of hard work. The school has a well equipped music room and a fulltime music teacher who helps the students for enhancing their performance.
